thanks ladies

Thanks for all the thoughts and advice. For now I'm going to go with some denial and put off any decision making until sometime next year. I really appreciated everyone's thoughts on future treatments and I'll probably talk to my RE before we would start up again to see if what knowing would change. So there....I'm wiping my hands of it for now (or at least trying to).

Can we talk for just one minute about the crazy weather and traffic around DC yesterday. It took me an hour and a half to get home from work last night. As I'm pulling in, Mr H calls to tell me that there is a power outage on the metro and everyone has to get off about 4 stops away from us. So I run in to the house, use the bathroom, feed the cat, grab a granola bar for myself, and get back into the car. It should take me 20 minutes to get to this metro station. One hour and 10 minutes later I pick Mr H up. Some of you might remember that I found out last month that my uterus does not like sitting in the car. As soon as I had that car in park, I jumped out, ran to the passenger side and lied down...felt so much better. Then, instead of trying to go straight home, we decided to go to a little cafe less than 1/2 mile from the metro. In retrospect, we should have just parked the car and walked but instead it took us 30 minutes to get there. Then 45 home. So all in all, four hours in the car. I could have been somewhere fun in that time, but no, I spent it on the beltway and 66.

Thankfully, schools were closed today. I soooo needed it. I thought it would give me the time to catch up on all the end of year paperwork but I had no power or cable (therefore, no internet) until 4 today. So I was forced to relax. And I walked over to the grocery store for lunch since there was no way I was getting back in that car today!

hmmm....reads like a very whiny post, sorry. I really came on just to thank you all for your help and good thoughts. This community never ceases to amaze me!

I'm so sorry you had to spend so long in the car yesterday -- that sucks! And the weather/traffic/power outage situation sounds nuts. I had seen a little about it on the news but hadn't been paying a lot of attention and hadn't really realized how bad it was. I'm glad you guys are okay!

That didn't read whiny at all.

I hate traffic. We've got a lot of it around here. It is ridiculous.

Wasn't the weather nuts yesterday? We were on tornado watch for most the evening and lost power, but thankfully we got it back.

ok. Now I am totally freaked out. We are headed to Baltimore at the end of the month and we planned to spend a few of our daytimes in DC. Four hours in transit is too much for me to think about. Arrggghhhh!

Tell me about it! Traffic was terrible and I was not a happy camper by the time we got home!

Sorry to hear about spending so much time in the car and the bad weather, but yay for you for getting a free "relax" day!

You didn't sound whiney at all :-) Sorry about the long car rides (especially not fun with an irritable uterus). It's crazy when you can walk faster than you can drive somewhere, isn't it? Hope you have a great weekend, without any long car rides :-)

My God that traffic sounds terrible!! Glad you got to relax today!

Traffic is the worst! Especially end of the day traffic when all you want to do is go home and chill. But you did it! And now it's the weekend. :-)

I hate traffic. It's one of the things that has kept me from moving to Seattle permanently.

I have been stuck in traffic like that in DC and in NYC. We moved from Newport RI to Virginia Beach. It should have been an 8 hour drive, at the LONGEST. It was nearly 16 hours. 8 of that was spent in NYC.

Sorry you had such a terrible time in traffic, and hope you get a little 'un-busy' time soon! (and you weren't whiney!)

OMG about the traffic! I'm so sorry you were so umcomfortable. Good thing you had the day off afterwards, though. I hope you're staying cool, though--I hear it's brutal this weekend!

Wow, that is crazy. I'm glad you at least made it home safe and sound, even if it did take forever.

Congrats on your pregnancy though!

I realize this is not new news but I'm here visiting from NCLM.

I think it is a good idea to just focus on the pregnancy right now and deal with the gene/breast cancer issue later.

Thinking of you and hoping you're doing OK. Power outages and traffic suck.

Always fun when weather and traffic conspire to put a crazy spin on your day. Glad you survived. Congrats on your pg - hope all goes well and you have a nice fat screaming bonus at the end of it!

I honestly think that there is no need right now to think about the genetic testing. You have so much on your plate as it is. Doing it a year or so later - if at all - will not make any difference. You now know that your chances may be increased so try eventually to be more diligent about self breast checks and ask your Dr. if you should get more frequent checkups.

Ok, I realize that my comment came after you had already moved on from the issue. Sorry.

As for the traffic - that just sucks. Especially while pregnant!! Glad you survived and hope that that never happens again!

XOXO

I have heard crazy things about DC traffic. We are in NJ and used to visit family in Georgia a lot. My Dad always timed leaving around when we would hit DC so as to avoid peak traffic times! NCLM

Your post was not whiny...it's been weird around this part of the country...I'm near Columbia, MD, so I feel your pain!

that does not sound like my idea of a fun day. Sorry about the power outage and all the time spent in the car. :( UGH!

We just have hot hot heat here, send some of that rain down to Texas!

Woah, that's a LOT of traffic/ What was going on? Just the weather or was there some big political shindig happening?
